A premium lifestyle magazine created by Dr Vijay Mallya, who has also successfully created some of the best lifestyle brands—Kingfisher Beer and Kingfisher Airlines are a few of them.
The magazine was launched keeping in mind the evolving Indian markets and the fact that consumers were fast acquiring a penchant for good life. Lifestyle markets were poised for a paradigm shift, and the magazine was aptly and timely launched to capture the current celebrity boom in India.
The company devised an exciting brand building strategy to familiarize the Indian audiences with this new product. For 16 months Hi! Blitz went as a supplement along with Cine Blitz, another magazine in the group.
Hi! Blitz hit the stands in August 2004. The strategy paid off well, and an audience that was already familiar with the product was now ready to take it even at a cost. The suave, international feel of the magazine made it almost an instant hit in the segment. The readers picked up the copy at Rs. 50 cover price, initially.
In the past 3 years the magazine has upped its cover price to Rs. 70 and then to Rs. 90. This clearly positions Hi! Blitz within the premium lifestyle readership segment. The current marketing network for Hi! Blitz intricately covers more than 5000 distribution points. It is also available in cities like Dubai, London, New York and Hong Kong.

In addition to the rack sales of 55,000, Hi! Blitz have also tied up with the Kingfisher Airlines’, serving as their in-flight Magazine. This is yet another quantum leap in its readership. Currently, 1, 55,000 copies of Hi! Blitz are subscribed by the Kingfisher Airlines alone. The association of Hi! Blitz has found a perfect partner in Kingfisher Airlines, now rated India’s only 5 star premier luxury airlines.
The magazine audiences are young professionals between 25 to 45 years, who are successful and aspire a good life. They invariably have a taste for good food, liquors, holidays, fashion, films, music and gizmos. The Hi! Blitz reader is a yuppie who moves in business and social circles, where he it is rather normative for him to be updated with the latest in vogue.
